The body schema: Where Motor and Visual Imagery meet?

The focus of this project is on the embodied nature of imagined movements. That is, is a mentally imagined movement subject to the same (biomechanical) constraints as an actual movement? The main objective of this project is to gain insight in the mental imagery process. Investigating the underlying processes allows one to explore the internal dynamics of motor control such as planning and preparation. Consequently, the insights gained in this project may be beneficial for future rehabilitation.
